John Wick: Chapter 4 Trailer Revealed At CinemaCon
While John Wick: Chapter 4 is set for theatrical release on March 24, 2023. Lionsgate decided to throw us a bone and tease fans with the next instalment in the gun-fu series.
The movie, like its previous instalments, will focus on John Wick, the world’s deadliest assassin and his quest of turning powerful criminal organizations upside down.
The John Wick series starring Keanu Reeves is among the most impressive action-packed films to date. Each entry in the series manages to top itself with mind-blowing stunts and sets a whole new bar for action films.
The first entry in the series started when Russian Mobsters killed John Wick’s dog and stole his car after his wife’s death. This forced former assassin John Wick to re-enter the criminal world and leave a bloody trail on his quest for revenge.
John Wick: Chapter 4 teased some incredible stunts, one in particular where John Wick is seen using nunchucks to fight enemies in an art gallery. From the teaser revealed at the Lionsgate panel in CinemaCon, it’s clear that the fourth instalment in the series will continue its legacy of brutal action sequences.
While we continue to get top-notch action sequences, the story and development of John Wick have taken a backseat. After John Wick; Chapter 2, the series has strayed away from the compelling story elements and action set-pieces that made the first film different from others in the same genre.
The first film focused on a character that is emotionally vulnerable after his wife’s death. Losing out on the only important thing keeping him sane led him to go into an unprecedented rage as a means of getting justice. An action flick that has a strong emotional connection that audiences can understand is what set John Wick’s story apart from others in the overcrowded action genre.
Director Chad Stahelski who returns to direct the fourth instalment of the series revealed that the film has a “conclusion to an emotional thread”. Hopefully, this time around we get a more compelling narrative. The director also commented that there is no happy ending in sight for John Wick as his bloody trail of bodies has put a target on his back. While that isn’t good for Wick, at least we can enjoy some no holds barred action.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will see the return of several cast members including Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick,Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown.
