John Cena Returns as Peacemaker in New Series Trailer

Peacemaker, the HBO series starring John Cena has finally dropped its eagerly waited full trailer. The eight-episode show will debut on HBO Max on January 13 with three episodes and will air the remaining episodes weekly.

The show takes place after the events of James Gunn The Suicide Squad (2021) and follows the character as he continues his quest of achieving peace at any cost. Even though Peacemaker isn’t part of the Suicide Squad, he is still paired up with another group of misfits to complete his mission.

Described as an action-comedy series, the trailer is full of explosions, gunshots, comedy and a new bald eagle who seems to be the titular characters’ partner. From the trailer, it seems that the show will also focus on Peacemaker’s rocky relationship with his father Auggie (Robert Patrick).

Interestingly, it seems that Peacemaker is growing a conscience and is questioning the immoral actions of his superiors who want him to complete the job with no questions asked. So it seems the douchey antihero has a soft side after all!

While it seemed that Peacemaker had met his end by a fatal wound from Idris Elba’s Bloodshot, the post-credit scene of the film revealed otherwise as he was rescued by Amanda Waller.

Peacemaker is created and written by James Gunn, which is quite evident as the trailer is full of his unmistakable humour. Gunn has also directed five of the show’s eight episodes. The series is R-rated so fans can expect the return of the over-the-top violence from The Suicide Squad

Peacemaker stars John Cena as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Steve Agee as Economos, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn,  and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith.
